Hobbs Man Convicted in Death of Young Teen

LOVINGTON, N.M. (AP) - A 19-year-old Hobbs resident has been convicted of involuntary manslaughter in the death of a young teen last year.

Roberto Ramirez had faced second-degree murder charges in the July 2007 death of 17-year-old Andrew Carter.  Jurors deliberated about four hours before returning the verdict yesterday.

Ramirez had been accused of shooting Carter in the chin after a dispute.  Carter died a few days later at a hospital in Lubbock, Texas.
