HOBBS, NEW MEXICO - A dairy in Hobbs, New Mexico could face a fine of more than 10-thousand dollars after failing to meet a state deadline.
Officals with the New Mexico Environmental Department say the rockview dairy has not installed monitoring wells.
The dairy is located near several homes with drinking water wells that could be affected by discharges.
Those monitoring wells help to detect groundwater conditions, and help make sure the water is not contaminated.
State officals say installing the wells are required under the dairy's permit.
Now they face a proposed $10,500 dollar fine.
