Economic Woes Could Spread to Oil Patch

MIDLAND, Texas (AP) - A state railroad commissioner says she expects the global economic slowdown could spread to the state's oil patch.

Commissioner Elizabeth Ames Jones says she expects to see a downturn in some of the drilling permits in the months to come. She was in Midland to address the Permian Basin Petroleum Association.

West Texas has been in the midst of a boom because of rising oil prices and demand over the past few years.
