Teen Arrested for Murder in Carlsbad

CARLSBAD, N.M. (AP) - A 16-year-old boy was arrested on charges of first-degree murder, kidnapping and other counts in the death this week of a 15-year-old Carlsbad boy.

The Carlsbad Police Department says John Gamble was arrested Thursday afternoon in the death of Joseph Garcia, whose body was found on a dirt road last Sunday evening.

Police say the preliminary autopsy results indicate Garcia died as a result of blunt force trauma, but the department isn't releasing specific information as its investigation is continuing.

Earlier Thursday, an official with the Office of the Medical Investigator said officials had been unable to pinpoint the exact cause of death pending further analysis.
