MIDLAND COUNTY - County leaders have slashed the cost of a proposal that would double the capacity of the Midland County Detention Center.

Sheriff Gary Painter and County Judge Mike Bradford says the proposal would add 330 additional beds, but no new personnel would be needed.

Officials also say they have been working to save money by increasing efficiency in the jail.

If the November bond passes, taxpayers will see a two cent increase per hundred dollar evaluation.
