Antonia Serrano and her husband own Tortas and More in Andrews.   They recently came home from a trip across the border to Chihuahua, earlier this week.

They were so impressed with what they saw then they knew they had to do something to help.

Serrano says she was moved to help by the simple thought, someday, she or someone she cares about may need help too.

She is asking for anyone who can make a donation to please do so.

They are accepting non-perishable food items and bottled water,

Also everything from toilet paper, toothpaste, soap, blankets, and even clothes.

Several Andrews businesses have joined in the efforts, including Thriftway, Alco and Texas Burger.

Serrano says she knows she can always count on her home town.

"When they find out we need help, they'll come through.   Andrews is a very united town.   If anyone needs help, they'll help," Serrano said.

Serrano and her husband will be accepting donations through the weekend and plan to head toward the border on Sunday.

Depending on how much they collect, they'll be delivering things to whoever is in need from Presidio to Chihuahua.

If you would like to help out you can go by Tortas and More on 500 west Broadway in Andrews or call them at 432-238-8046 and arrange a pick up.

You can also take your donations to Super Mercado in Midland.
