MIDLAND - The City of Midland's water pollution control plant is operating on backup pumps.

An operating pump failed on Tuesday night.

The plant currently is able to handle the waste water flows and officials are bringing in two more pumps to provide additional backup.

Those backup diesel pumps will operate until sometime next year when replacement pumps come online.

The city says residents should not notice any change in sewer services.
