MIDLAND - Runners, lace up your shoes.
The West Texas Crossroads Marathon will be held on October 4th.
There's activities planned for runners of all ages and levels.
This first annual event will feature a full 26-mile marathon, a half marathon, a 5K, and a kid's race.
Not only is it the first of its kind in West Texas, but it's a boston marathon qualifying race.
The idea for a marathon came from a conversation between an Administrative Pastor at Crossroads Fellowship Church and his daughter.
"We started talking about, brainstorming about ideas that we could challenge our community along the same lines of promoting physical, spiritual, and mental fitness and the idea came to us that a marathon would be a great way to do that," Reggie Baker with Crossroads Fellowship Church, said.
Organizers say the event will support local and national non-profit groups.
