PERMIAN BASIN - Monday was the first day of school and Midland Police want to remind drivers to slow down.

If you don't, it could mean a 200 dollar fine.

As more new drivers pull up to campus this week, patrol around the schools have gone up.

Police say the area around the high schools are particularly horrible, and it's the most dangerous during lunch.

High schoolers have lunch off campus and many nearby roads like Andrews Highway will be crowded.

MPD says it's best to avoid primary routes during lunch time, which is 11:20 to 12:15 for Lee High and 12:20 to 1:15 for Midland High.
