MIDLAND - Midland County Commissioners decided to call a bond election for the expansion of the jail.

The current facility has been overcrowded since 2004.

County officials estimate the cost at 22 million dollars which will add over 8300 square feet for four housing units and upgrades for the kitchen, laundry, and medical facilities.

But not only will it be larger, it will be green.

The designer will use energy-efficient material in an effort to reduce the utility bills.

Voters will have the chance to decide in the November 4th election.
