ODESSA- We have talked to a couple of parents from Odessa high who say this new policy will put their kids in danger. The policy says that starting this school year every sport in the Ector County School District is only allowed one over night stay.
Some parents say that for several sports like track and field forces the team to leave at 2 a.m. to be able to make it for a meet and by leaving so early in the morning it would interfere with the kids performance.
The parents are also concerned that bus drivers will be on the road for too many hours at a time. School Officials say this new policy will actually benefit the kids, because it will keep them from being away from home for so long. They also say in no way will the kids be in danger. The district's bus drivers are professionals and know what they are doing.
A group of parents from Odessa and Permian High School are scheduled to talk to school district official's on Wedensday afternoon.
