ODESSA - It may not be a swimming pool, but as far as everybody we've talked to is concerned, that doesn't seem to matter. The water is cold, and refreshing, and the best part of all, it's free.
In true West Texas style, McKinney's new water park has a giant derrick stretching up into the sky, but there is one sound that everyone that comes to McKinney park listens for anxiously.
With screams of delight, kids bunch up to get drenched by gallon after gallon after gallon of water.
The park has something for children of all ages.
A snake that spits, buckets that spill on your head, water canons and fountains, and for those that want to keep cool, but not drenched, misting sprays.
But without a doubt, the most popular part, happens every 6 minutes, and most of the children playing at the park agree the bucket is the best attraction at the park.
A couple of children we spoke to said, they definitely know what they'll be doing between now and the first day of school.
One little girl, said how grateful she was, to finally have the park open.
"I want to thank the people who made this, so we can get wet," she said.
If you ask these park goers, the end result was worth the wait. It may have come toward the end of summer, but you can bet, they are going get full use of it and they'll definitely have something to look forward to next summer.
