Hearing to be Held Next Week for Winkler County News Editor

The man accused of having sexual pictures of children, Richard McLaughlin, will face a judge again next week.

The Editor of the Winkler County News had his first hearing Friday morning in Federal Court.

Lawyer was appointed to defend the 61-year old.

McLaughlin was arrested at his Kermit home on Thursday afternoon, two days after the FBI served searched the newspaper offices and his home.

Investigators took a computer, along with video tapes and other forms of digital media from McLaughlin's bedroom.

Authorities tell us he had four videos of pre-teen and teenage boys performing sexual acts on a disc.

Investigators are still going through the evidence taken from the home and the paper's offices.

McLaughlin will be back in court on Wednesday afternoon for a bond hearing.

For now, he remains in federal custody.
