MIDLAND- A team of Midland detectives scoured an open field across from the Glen Park Apartments, west of Highway 349 on Wednesday. Police say crews went out in search of more evidence following an early morning assault on Sunday. A woman was found bloody and badly beaten Sunday morning in nothing but a bra and shorts.

Midland Police Department Sgt. Grimaldo, says the woman was badly hurt but did not have any information regarding where she was transported or her condition.

Sgt. Grimaldo says Sunday's investigation didn't yield any good leads and that's why the team went back out to investigate on Wednesday.

"[I] Just heard a knock on the door, there was this lady that was all beat up real bad," Ruben Salazar, who lives at the Glen Park Complex, said. "First time, I've seen something like this."

Salazar says the woman was coughing up blood and had a cut on her eye and forehead.

"She really couldn't remember anything," Salazar added she could barley talk, "The way she was beaten up pretty bad, she just couldn't talk."

Salazar called police around 7 a.m. after the woman knocked on his door. Police say the assault actually happened around 4 a.m. but no other details were available.

"I had to do something, there is nobody around. I am glad she came to my door so I could help her out," he said, "I hope they find the person who did this to her."
