MIDLAND - After nearly 38 years of use, the Marian Blakemore Planetarium in Midland is getting a much needed facelift.
The Planetarium recently closed their doors so they can begin on installing a new state of the art immersive planetarium.
Renovating the entire facility is also in the plans, as well as adding a new permanent space science exhibit, which the planetarium's marketing director says will be a great benefit to the community.
In total, the project will cost more than 3-million dollars with most of the funds coming from local non-profits, the City of Midland, and a lot of private investors and businesses.
The planetarium will re-open it's doors in the fall of next year.
