ODESSA - It's official, Odessa is the ideal place to retire.
On Tuesday, the City of Odessa announced it has been recognized as a certified retirement community by the State of Texas.
"They certainly do help the economy. They're going to pay taxes just like everyone else. They are going to buy homes and spend money in the community. They also bring leadership. Typically with retirees they have been around, they have experience, and they can provide leadership to the community that we can always use," Odessa Chamber of Commerce Member, David Boutin, said.
The certified retirement community program was created in 2006 in order to attract retirees from across the country to rural regions in the State.
