RUIDOSO, NEW MEXICO - Residents in Ruidoso, New Mexico are settling back into their homes this week after severe flooding closed the area a week ago.
Starting on Monday, renters, contractors, and caretakers of homes in the upper canyon will be allowed to go back in.
The overflowing Rio Ruidoso damaged about 200 homes, washed out 13 bridges, and led to the rescue of about 900 residents.
In addition, one man was killed.
While residents are allowed to return home, officials are discouraging everyone from coming back right now because gas, water, and sewer services are not yet back up.
