BIG SPRING - The report cards are in for Big Spring schools.

TAKS results show mixed results, but two Big Spring schools earned low marks.

The Texas Education Agency handed out academically unacceptable ratings to both Big Spring Junior High and Big Spring High School.

Student performances, State tests, and drop out rates all factor in.

All the elementary and intermediate schools earned academically acceptable or recognized marks.

Right now, neither the high school nor the junior high will face any penalties from the State.

But if those schools are ranked as unacceptable for five or more straight years, they could face some serious punishments.

The Interim Superintendent says steps will be taken to improve both schools.
