A federal judge is expected to have rulings on a group of motions in the case of a former Midland soldier charged with rape and murder in Iraq.

The district judge told attorneys on Tuesday that a decision on those motions should be made without any oral litigation.

22-year-old Steven Green is scheduled to face trial on April 27th of next year for 16 different charges including premeditated murder and aggravated sexual assault.

Green pleaded not guilty to the charges in November of last year.

If convicted, Green could face the death penalty.
