Boil Water Notice Issued for Ruidoso, New Mexico

RUIDOSO, N.M. (AP) - The state Environment Department is advising people in Ruidoso to boil the water they drink or use to cook with or wash dishes.

The advisory from the Drinking Water Bureau applies to the Ruidoso water system, which serves about 10,000 customers in Lincoln County.

The precautionary boil water advisory was issued today because of severe flooding in the area.

Environment Department Secretary Ron Curry says a dozen members of his agency are in the area.

He says they will offer free water testing for area residents and monitor the wastewater treatment plant.

Water system customers are advised to boil tap water for five minutes before drinking, cooking, and dishwashing.
