Bond Set for Driver Involved in Car-Pedestrian Accident

MIDLAND - Bond is set for a Midland man accused of hitting and killing a woman with his truck and leaving her son in critical condition at a Lubbock hospital.  

51-year-old Carlos Baeza remains in the Midland County jail under a $75,000 bond after the Wednesday night accident.

Police say Baeza hit 22-year-old Ashley Molina and three other people near the intersection of Hicks and Baird.

Molina was pronounced dead at the scene, her son remains in ICU.

Altamia Romero and her young infant, also involved in the accident, were treated and released from the hospital, but now Baeza faces two additional counts of aggravated assault for hitting them.  

Midland Police say after discussing this case with the District Attorney's office, and they decided these new charges had to be added.
