An Odessa man faces federal charges of credit fraud and identity theft.

49-year-old Dennis Heldt was indicted by a federal grand jury on 27 counts.

Authorities say for more than a year, Heldt broke into cars and stole credit cards, then used them in Midland, Odessa, and Amarillo.

He was finally caught in Amarillo last month.

If he's convicted on all 27 counts, he could be sentenced to 20 years in federal prison.
