Woman Dies After being Hit by Truck in Midland

MIDLAND - A man has been charged with intoxication manslaughter after a woman died and three more people, including two infants, were injured when they were hit by a vehicle in the 1500 block of South Baird Street.

The accident happened around 9:30 Wednesday night.

Two adults on foot, and two children sharing a stroller, were heading westbound on Hicks, and as they were crossing Baird street a 2001 red Dodge pickup struck the pedestrians and then sped off.

22-year-old Ashley Molina was pronounced dead at the scene and her child, 7-month-old Anthony Sanchez was flown to a Lubbock hospital.

A 26-year-old female and her 9-month-old son were treated at Midland Memorial and have been released.

Midland police caught up with the driver of the truck, 51-year-old Carlos Baeza around 11 pm.

Baeza has been charged with both intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault.
