REEVES COUNTY - 50-year-old Randall Lee Stephens was brought back to Reeves County from Mobile, Alabama on Thursday night to face charges for failing to register as a sex offender.
But now that he's back in the Pecos Jail, the Texas Rangers and Pecos Police continue their investigation into his possible involvement in the murders of Rick and A.J. Cherry.
They were found stabbed to death, and the couple's truck was missing.
Now, authorities say they're trying to wrap up the case so they can charge Stephens with the murders.
You may recall, Stephens was caught near Mobile, Alabama at a truck stop restaurant off Interstate ten.
