ECTOR COUNTY - Governor Rick Perry has lifted Ector County's disaster declaration. The order takes effect Wednesday at midnight.

This means some fireworks will be allowed in Ector County for the July 4th holiday. Aerial fireworks with sticks and fins are still banned though.

Ector County Commissioners held an emergency meeting to discuss the lifting of the disaster declaration Wedmesday afternoon. County officials told Governor Perry that the rain we had the last few days was enough to reduce the danger.

Fire officials tell NewsWest9 that conditions remain dry across the region and urge residents to be careful this holiday season.

Midland County officials say the ban on the sale and use of fireworks in Midland County remains in place.

Burn bans remain in effect across the region including Ector County.
