MIDLAND - Believe it or not, local officials have been talking about this project since the 70's.
Now, we're only nine months from the start of construction.
And I think you'll agree, it's going to be a phenomenal building.
House Speaker Tom Craddick along with a host of other U.T. Officials invited the public for an update.
They also wanted to show the public the latest drawings of the building.
There will be an 1,800 seat facility, along with a smaller 200 seat theater.
There's one small catch, the cost has risen ten million dollars, and four of that must be raised here locally.
It'll be an amazing 90 feet tall, and will be located near 1788 and Highway 191 by the CEED Building.
The building is set to open by 2012 and will be the new home for the Midland and Odessa Symphony and Chorale.
Plus, there will be many traveling broadway shows and ballets to name a few.
The official name of the center is the Wagner Noel Performing Arts Center, and we don't have to tell you how excited everyone is. Now that construction workers will be moving dirt by March.
