Dynamite Fire Near Midland/Martin County Line Burns 1,750 Acres

MIDLAND/MARTIN COUNTY LINE - 1,750 acres scorched.

That's the number from Monday's massive grassfire north of Midland.

That fire, believed to have started from a transformer spark, is out.

The Dynamite Fire started Monday afternoon on the Midland-Martin County Line.

It was so bad at one point, authorities shut down County Road 1150, north of Loop 250.

Firefighters from several areas along with the Texas Forest Service fought the flames.

No buildings were burned, but several tank batteries were threatened.

No one was hurt.
