Rocky Fire in New Mexico Now 80% Contained

EDDY COUNTY, NEW MEXICO - Firefighters in New Mexico have the upper hand on a big brushfire in the Lincoln National Forest.

Lightning caused the Rocky Fire which is now 80 percent contained.

The fire has burned up more than 49,000 acres.

Right now, more than 200 firefighters are fighting the fire southwest of Hope.

The week old fire is burning grass, shrubs, and trees on government and private land.

So far, almost two million dollars has been spent fighting the big blaze.
