NORTH ODESSA - Firefighters are resting up after spending the whole night putting out a major fire north of Odessa.

This massive blaze scorched an estimated 12,000 thousand acres before crews from Odessa, West Odessa, Gardendale, South Ector County, Goldsmith, and Midland got the fire out around 3:30 Saturday morning.

The fire is still under investigation, but according to Jimmy Ellis from the West Odessa Volunteer Fire Department they suspect Friday nights lightning storm may have sparked the blaze.

The fire burned miles of fence line, several tank batteries, and high wires, but fortunately no structures were lost and no one was hurt.
