Man Arrested for String of Car Burglaries, Credit Card Abuse

ODESSA - A man has been arrested in connection to a string of car burglaries in Odessa.

Amarillo Police arrested 50-year-old Dennis Heldt on Wednesday for a parole violation. He was also charged for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Odessa Police believe Heldt is responsible for a string of car burglaries in Odessa. Police say Heldt would break into vehicle and steal purses. He would then use stolen credit cards at local businesses.

Odessa Crime Stoppers assisted Odessa police in their investigation by providing video of the suspect leaving a business after using a stolen credit card.

Heldt will be transported back to Odessa from Amarillo to face local charges.
