Finalist Named for Midland College President

MIDLAND - The Midland College Board of Trustees has announced their choice for Midland College's fourth President. Dr. Stephen Thomas has served as the President of Vernon College in Vernon, Texas since 2000.

The Board will officially finalize the position at their Regular Board Meeting on June 30. Thomas will be visiting the campus before that time to meet and visit with faculty and staff. He is expected to assume his new role at MC on August, succeeding Dr. David Daniel, who has served as Midland College's President for the last 17 years.

Stephen Thomas is no stranger to MC, having served in several positions during the College's early years.  He came to MC in 1976 as a part-time faculty member in the Department of Behavioral Science, and was promoted to full-time faculty in 1979.

Thomas earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology/Psychology from Southwest Texas State University in 1970 before obtaining his Master of Arts in Counseling from UTPB in 1975.  He completed his Ph.D. in Education Administration from the University of Texas at Austin in 1986.
