FORT DAVIS - Volunteer fire departments from all over West Texas are back home getting some rest after battling a massive grass fire in Jeff Davis County. The Texas Forest Service and volunteer departments are still dealing with the fire that's burned more than 43,000 acres. Crews say they have a better handle on the blaze, the fire is now 65 percent contained. The fire started Wednesday afternoon with a spark form a tool used by a Union Pacific crew repairing an area of track. The wind quickly pushed the fire from Presidio County into Jeff Davis County. No word yet on any citations, but the rail company is taking responsiblity and have set up a claims hotline. If you have any property damage, call 1-877-877-2567.
