MIDLAND - A Midland College professor has been indicted by a Federal Grand Jury for receiving and sending child pornography.

Dr. David Allen was indicted on three counts Wednesday. He was arrested last week at his Midland home after a lengthy investigation by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents. His home and work computers were both seized as part of the investigation.

Earlier this week, a judge ruled that Allen would remain in federal custody at least during the short term. Allen's attorneys had asked the judge to send Allen to one of two facilities that treat sex addiction. The judge ruled neither was acceptable and he gave Allen's attorneys two days to present other facilities Allen could go to while awaiting trial.

Allen reportedly tried to commit suicide after I.C.E. agents raided his home. According to court documents, Allen has admitted to having a sex addiction.

Allen has been the Director of Theater at Midland College for the past ten years. He is currently on unpaid leave from the school.

I.C.E. officials say Allen was exchanging pictures of children involved in sexual acts over the Internet. Those children ranged in age from infancy to 15 years. Allen faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
