ODESSA - A memorial was held on Wednesday for all of the officers that died in the line of duty this year.

The Odessa Police Department held the event honoring those officers.

In years past, the memorial honored those two officers that had died years ago.

The difference this year was the three officers in Odessa that were killed in the line of duty last year which Corporal Sherrie Carruth says means a lot.

"This year it has a little more special to it because normally we only had two officers, now we have five, and then we also have the one from Ector County, and then we have the one from Lubbock County.  So this year, it had to increase unfortunately, but we also recognize them as well," Carruth said.

The Ector County Sheriff's were also at the memorial as well.

In all, 26 officers lost their lives this year in the State of Texas.
