RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Clint Bowyer raced to his first victory of the season by winning the Dan Lowry 400 at Richmond International Raceway. Kyle Busch ran second, followed by Mark
Martin, Tony Stewart and Martin Truex Junior.
Denny Hamlin led 381 of the 400 laps. But he lost the lead when a leaking right tire allowed Dale Earnhardt Junior and Busch to scoot past him with 18 laps to go. Caution came out with eight to go when Hamlin's tire finally failed. That set up what looked to be a showdown between Earnhardt and Busch over the final laps.
But Busch spun Earnhardt with three to go. As those two raced for the lead, Bowyer slid past both to drive away to the win. Earnhardt finished 15th and Hamlin was a disappointing 24th
after nearly routing the field.
