MIDLAND - An unruly passenger who forced a Continental jet to divert to Midland last week is getting an extended stay in Midland.

A federal judge decided 44-year-old Arthur David Proskin of Albany, New York, would be held in Midland until his trial.

According to authorities, Proskin became out of control after a flight attendant hit him in the leg with a beverage cart.

The plane was on its way from Houston to Palm Springs, California, when the pilot decided to land the plane in Midland.

A federal grand jury will meet later this month to decide whether or not to indict Proskin.

If indicted, we're told Proskin would most likely go to trial in August.
