Shooting in Marathon Leaves One Man Dead, Another Behind Bars

MARATHON - A murder in Marathon lands a presidio man in jail, and leaves Brewster County Investigators looking for answers as to how it all went down.

The deadly shooting happened Saturday night right in front of the Gage Hotel.

According to Sheriff Ronny Dodson, 68 year old T.J. Dunlap, Junior is the man who pulled the trigger.

Not a lot of details right now, but we're told dunlap jumped in his car and headed for Alpine.

Investigators tell us a deputy reached the scene almost immediately, but saw the unidentified victim laying in the parking lot, and couldn't pursue Dunlap.

Deputies called DPS for some help and troopers pulled Dunlap over about halfway between the two towns.

Investigators are still talking to witnesses about what happened that Saturday night.

Dunlap remains in the Brewster County Jail on a $100,000 bond.

The identity of the victim has not been released pending notificiation of the next of kin.
