ECTOR COUNTY - The fire along Interstate 20 near F.M. 1053 is finally out.
Volunteer firefighters put out the last of the hotspots Friday afternoon.
According to Chief Jimmy Ellis, it took about five hours, with most of the work going into to dousing about 100 railroad ties.
In all, about 2,500 acres were burned.
The fire erupted Thursday afternoon forcing part of I-20 to shut down.
The blaze fired up again, Thursday night.
The city went back to work on it, then the West Odessa Volunteers took over.
