Grassfire Near Interstate 20 and FM 1053 70% Contained
Fire crews have a fire near Interstate 20 and F.M. 1053, 70 percent contained.
I-20 was shut down on Thursday, because a massive grassfire jumped the Interstate, near the Fort Stockton exit between Penwell and Monahans.
The thick smoke and flames forced State Troopers to shut down the road.
The Texas Forest Service tells NewsWest 9 they will continue to watch the fire overnight.
They estimate 2,500 acres burned there.
They will have a better idea on Friday just how much damage was done.
