ANDREWS - NewsWest 9 Reporter Michael Stafford reports that good news is the word of the night in Andrews.

Evacuation orders have been lifted for those residents who were evacuated, and they are being allowed to return home.

The fire that prompted the evacuations started in Ector County at Highway 158 and Cowden, and moved northeast into Andrews County.

This fire started before two, but it got a head start on firefighters who were already dealing with several big fires on the west side of Ector County.

The Texas Forest Service diverted all their air resources to this fire, because it is dangerously close those homes that were evacuated. The Texas Forest Service also called in two helicopters and bulldozers help get the fire out.

There have been no reports of injuries.

Highway 385, south of Andrews has re-opened after the evacuation orders were lifted.

The Red Cross has set up at the James Roberts Civic Center in Andrews.
