ECTOR COUNTY - An illegal immigrant faces federal charges after he allegedly attacked an Ector County deputy.

According to the United States Attorney, this all started when Moises Saenz-Contreras tried to use a fake green card and social security number to get a job with a local oilfield company.

The company, suspecting the fake papers, called immigration.

We're told the Ector County Deputy helping authorities out, was attacked by Contreras, before he could be restrained.

Because the deputy was assisting federal officers, the assault is federal charge, carrying with it an eight year prison sentence.

Contreras remains in federal custody.
