Officer on Administrative Leave after Fatal Shooting in Big Spring

BIG SPRING - A Big Spring Police Officer on administrative leave after fatally shooting a Big Spring man.

Now, the Texas Rangers are investigating the fatal shooting.

Police say the shooting happened around 11:40 Monday morning on the 700 block of Lorilla.

The victim has been identified as 37-year-old Patrick Rios.

Authorities tell NewsWest 9, an officer on a narcotics investigation was threatened by Rios, who according to reports, was armed with a shotgun.

The officer then fired at Rios, killing him outside of his home.

That officer is now on administrative leave, pending an investigation by the Texas Rangers.
