LEA COUNTY, NEW MEXICO - Lea County, declared a disaster area after February's massive grassfire that burned more than 71-thousand acres.
The declaration was approved by commisioners on Tuesday.
The declaration allows the County to receive money to help reimburse emergency responders for their services.
The Stiles Complex Fire began March 14th as four separate blazes, and eventually converged into one before it was contained two days later.
The blaze also burned seven homes, two barns, and several other buildings.
A County Official says the blaze was started by a car that backfired.
