FT. STOCKTON - Teachers in Fort Stockton will soon be seeing some extra cash in their pockets.
That's after a move by the school board to make teacher's pay more competitive with other West Texas School districts.
Last week, the Board unanimously approved a move to increase salaries for teachers, counselors, diagnosticians, librarians, and nurses.
The total cost for all of the increases is expected to be a little over 477,000 dollars.
That means an almost $2,000 dollar pay raise for starting teachers.
Officials say the money will come from an increase in the districts fund balance this past year.
