BIG SPRING - Some homeowners in Big Spring say they've won a major victory, after they stopped an oil and gas waste disposal site from going in their own backyard.

The Kemper Operating Company pulled their application for a permit with the Texas Railroad Commission to pump oil waste nine-thousand feet into an abandoned oil well near FM 700 and Highway 350 on Oasis Road.

They pulled the application earlier this month, but it's now official.

Home owners in the area banded together and held meetings with Kemper's Owner William Kemper who told neighbors if he couldn't convince them the site was safe he would pull out of the project.
