An Odessa run-off election is heating up.

State Representative Buddy West hosted a press conference and luncheon on Monday to thank all of his supporters.

Several local and state officials were also there.

On April 8th, West faces off against Tryon Lewis in a runoff election.

Lewis says he wants to have a debate against Incumbent Buddy West, but West apparrently declined one invitation and didn't respond to another.

In his speech, West had a response to his opponent.

"There's no need for a debate, I've already done everything he's trying to do. I've got a record, and he doesn't. Well you know all he's had is a judgeship, all he's done is judge people, so I've worked for people, I've served people," State Representative Buddy West said.

Former opponents in the District 81 race, Randy Rives and Jesse Gore were at Monday's conference.

Early voting in the run-off election is March 31st through April 4th.

The general election is April 8th.
