ODESSA - He showed up to ground zero on day one.
A 9-11 first responder, turned author, made a very special stop in Odessa to honor the fallen officers.
On Saturday afternoon, Odessa Police Department welcomed Lieutenant William Keegan Junior to speak at the department.
He was one of the first police officers to respond on 9-11 to the attacks on the World Trade Center.
On Saturday, he talked to officers and to the families of those fallen heroes who were killed in the line of duty last September.
He talked about how important it is to honor all of those officers willing to put their lives on the line for others.
The Odessa Police Department is also selling children's books for the fallen heroes project.
All of the money raised will go towards buying bullet proof vests for local law enforcement.
