ODESSA - Students and staff at one Odessa Elementary School are dealing with a messy situation, and they say the stench is almost unbearable.

Several parents tell NewsWest Nine that a plumbing problem at Zavala Magnet Elementary in Odessa forced them to pull their kids out of school.

They claim the foul odor has been going on since Friday.

The E.C.I.S.D. School District had a plumbing crew come out on Monday, but they couldn't find the source of the problem until today, but school went on as planned.

"We walked straight into the doors and all the kids in the hallways had their nose covered with their shirts, and then I took my son back down his hallway and you could smell it all the way down the hallway, all the way down to the end of the hall, it smells bad.  They said it's been like this since Friday," One concerned parent told NewsWest 9.

District Spokesman Mike Adkins says the plumbing crew has found the problem in a drainage line by the cafeteria, and he says crews will remain at the school tonight until the problem is fixed.

School is scheduled for Wednesday.
