BIG SPRING - A Big Spring teen nearly had his head blown off by a 12-gauge shotgun Tuesday afternoon, but the 19 year old got lucky, he only had wounds behind his ear and shoulders.

Police say Edward Lopez was sitting in a car with a friend outside of a house on the 13-hundred block of Utah.

That's when another car pulled up, stopped, and someone inside fired 3 rounds from a shotgun.

Lopez is expected to be okay, he's recovering in the hospital.

His friend wasn't hit.

Officers think the shooting is gang related, and they have a suspect.

So far no arrests have been made.
