Two Men Behind Bars After Deadly Shooting in Hobbs

HOBBS, NEW MEXICO - Two Hobbs men sitting in jail tonight charged in the death of a 23 year old.

21-year-old Jose Garcia is charged with murder and tampering with evidence and conspiracy.

21-year-old Alex Tovar is also charged with tampering with evidence and conspiracy.

Hobbs Police say they were called to an apartment complex on east Bender, a little after 1:30 Friday morning where they found Josh Barrientes with two gunshot wounds in the chest.  

Barrientes was taken to the hospital where he died a few hours later.

After investigating, police found out there was another shooting earlier at a different apartment complex on west Houston street.

No one was hurt in that gunfire.

Garcia is being held on a one million dollar bond, Tovar's bond is six thousand dollars.
